Bereits 2003 als punkiges Side-Projekt von Station 17 ins Leben gerufen, spielten kUNDEkOENIG zunächst ausschließlich Coverversionen von Bands wie The Dresden Dolls oder Emir Kusturica und drückten den Songs ihren eigenen markanten Stempel auf: Trash, Punk, Polka — zugleich Motto und Stilmittel der frühen Bandgeschichte.
